An employee’s service date can change for various reasons, leave, rehire, etc. Each employer has a different formula to adjust an employee’s continuous service date based on a reason. In Workday today, there is no simple interface to configure a matrix of rules governing service date adjustments against employer defined formulas and no automated method to enter of this information into a worker’s job profile based on an event.
Using a Calculated field to evaluate when or if to adjust a workers continuous service date is fairly easy. Then build a report to list all adjusteed service dates. Add a Studio to automatically update these dates into Workday and you are done.
The key is to lay out the logic of when and how to adjust a service date. Whether it is for a LOA, a Laid off worker being recalled, or a rehire.
